The General Medical Zone Headquarters conducted its 2022 Joint Disaster Response Drill

As a disaster-response hospital, Tokushima University Hospital conducted a joint disaster response drill with Tokushima Prefectural Central Hospital on October 15, 2022 (Sat.) to determine whether the disaster response headquarters and the system for receiving patients would function adequately to receive patients in the event of a large-scale disaster.
The drill was a tabletop drill on a reduced scale in response to COVID-19. The scenario was that a number of injured victims were transported to the University Hospital due to a massive earthquake. A disaster response headquarters was set up and headed by Shoji Kami, Director of the Hospital, and several tasks were performed, such as sorting patients by symptoms at the triage center and coordinating hospital admissions.
In addition, the skywalk connecting the two hospitals was used to communicate the status of victims, and a drill involving the transport of patients between University Hospital and the Prefectural Central Hospital was conducted.
The participating hospital staff took the drills seriously and they reacted in accordance with the procedures for receiving patients in the event of a disaster, reaffirming the importance of disaster medicine and team medicine.
