A drill on decontaminating victims of a chemical disaster was conducted

On September 16 (Fri.), a decontamination drill was conducted with the scenario that “victims of chemical disaster who had been exposed to volatile toxic substances were transported to the hospital.”
After a lecture on decontamination by Professor Oto, Director of the Disaster Response Office, the participants practiced decontamination under his guidance. The participating doctors and nurses carefully went through the procedures of donning protective clothing, disrobing simulated victims, washing them off in the shower in the decontamination booth, and transporting them out of the booth so that the doctors and nurses would be prepared to deal with any victims of a chemical disaster at any time.
The results of this drill should lead to appropriate treatment and enhanced cooperation in the event of providing medical care during a future disaster.
