Designated as an Epilepsy Care Center

On November 12, 2018, Tokushima University Hospital was designated as an Epilepsy Care Center, the first in Shikoku.
Tokushima University Hospital established the Epilepsy Center in December 2016, offering comprehensive medical treatment and support with multidisciplinary care provided by doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, and medical social workers involved in epilepsy care. Its activities include awareness campaigns through public lectures, educational activities through EEG seminars, network study groups involving related medical institutions in the Prefecture, collaboration with other epilepsy centers, and strengthening in-hospital medical cooperation. In the future, we will set up the Tokushima Epilepsy Treatment and Medical Liaison Council in collaboration with clinics, the prefectural government, welfare agencies, patients and families. In addition, we are planning on epilepsy lecture tours and the preparation of leaflets.
With this designation, Tokushima University Hospital will work to establish systems and coordination to enable epilepsy patients to receive appropriate diagnosis and treatment, so that they and their families can enjoy peace of mind in their daily and social life.
